Asthma

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition marked by inflammation and narrowing of the airways, leading to symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing. It is common, although not fully understood. Triggers include allergens, exercise, cold air, and respiratory infections. There is no cure for asthma, but there are several treatments as well as simple advice on how to manage this long term condition.

Hives

Hives, also known as urticaria, are a skin reaction characterised by raised, red, itchy welts or bumps that can vary in size and shape. They typically appear suddenly and may move around the body, often disappearing within hours or days. Hives can be triggered by various factors, including allergic reactions to foods, medications, insect stings, or allergens such as pollen or pet dander. Non-allergic triggers may include viral infections, stress, temperature extremes, or physical factors like pressure on the skin or exposure to sunlight. While they can be uncomfortable, especially due to itching, most cases of hives are not serious and can be managed effectively with over-the-counter medications and by avoiding triggers.

Male Hair Loss

Male pattern baldness is a common, genetic condition that leads to permanent hair loss. Male pattern baldness affects 50% of men over 50 years of age but can also affect men in their 20s. The hair loss in male pattern baldness starts as a thinning of the hair at the sides and on the top of the head. So it’s this “pattern” that defines the condition and separates it from other types of hair loss. While this form of hair loss in men isn’t serious and doesn’t need treatment, it is permanent and can be distressing. The loss of hair can affect your confidence and self-esteem. However, there are several treatment options available to stop your hair loss and even regrow new hair.

Nausea

Nausea is a sensation of unease or discomfort in the stomach, often accompanied by an urge to vomit. It is a common symptom that can occur due to various factors, including digestive issues, motion sickness, viral infections, medications, pregnancy, alcohol, or emotional factors. Nausea can also be a symptom of more serious conditions such as migraines, inner ear disorders (vertigo), or metabolic disorders. Treatment includes antiemetic medications, hydration, and addressing underlying causes. Simple dietary changes, such as eating small, bland meals, can also help alleviate symptoms.

Period Delay

Period delay involves delaying menstruation for personal or medical reasons using hormonal medications like Utovlan or Norethisterone. There are many reasons why you may choose to delay your period. Maybe you have a wedding or holiday planned, and you want to delay your period until after the event. Likewise, you may wish to avoid the stress or discomfort of a period during a house move, job change or another stressful event such as exams. Periods can be delayed by up to 17 days. Consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary to ensure safe and appropriate use.

Premature Ejaculation

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is a common sexual health condition characterised by the inability to control ejaculation during sexual intercourse, often occurring sooner than desired and causing distress or frustration. While there is no universally agreed-upon definition of premature ejaculation, it generally refers to ejaculating within one minute of penetration consistently and persistently. It is a common condition and treatment options vary depending on the underlying cause and severity of the condition.
